Class Descriptions

UNITE Yoga offers Hatha, Vinyasa Flow & Yin (Yin/Yang), Gentle Yoga, and Yin classes.

Yin/Yang

Yin/Yang classes typically blends two styles of yoga. Passive Yin poses and dynamic standing postures.
The class will take you through poses at more gentle and slower pace than a dedicated Vinyasa Yoga Class. You will still gain strength from the practice as well as a lighter cardiovascular workout. The Yin Yoga poses will help to release your connective tissue and fascia and can help you to increase range of mobility and help with injury prevention.

Flow Yoga

Beginner friendly yoga which as a general guide follows a sequence of postures with the emphasis being on your breath.
As a more gentle Flow practice, this class is considered slower paced to a regular Vinyasa Flow class and is suitable for newcomers and regular practitioners.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Vinyasa Flow is a more energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one shape to the next while connecting their breathing to their movements. As a more vigorous and energising form of physical fitness, Vinyasa Flow uses your own body weight to help sculpt a strong, lean, body beautiful.

Mindfulness elements of this practice will also teach you how to reduce stress through meditation and observation of thought as well as effective use and understanding of your breath.

Our weekly timetable also includes Gentle Flow Classes which are a more gentle style and slower pace of Vinyasa Flow class suitable for a wide variety of people.

Yin Yoga

Yin is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time. For beginners this time may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.  This practice can help prevent injuries and improve mobility.

Yin is a healing practice for your body and your mind. The mindfulness elements of the practice will teach you how to reduce stress through meditation and observation of thought as well as through use of your breath.

Regular Yin Yoga practitioners may find benefits including increased circulation and flexibility, reduction in stress, and a more mindful approach to the way they move and approach life.

Hatha

Hatha yoga in some way describes all types of yoga that teaches physical postures. Most yoga classes taught in the West are based on Hatha yoga. However, when a class is list shown on a timetable as Hatha, you can expect a more gentle introduction to yoga postures and less flow. It is a great way for many new practitioners to start their yoga journey. Hatha classes help you to feel more relaxed, lengthen out muscles , loosen up tight spots in your body, and find the path to a more peaceful mind.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga is class that might be a good fit for beginners while also enjoyed by more experienced yoga practitioners.
